Description:
The Robot Virtual World software solves two problems and introduces several other exciting opportunities for education:
- In a classroom, every group of 2-3 students should have their own robot. Robot kits can be expensive, so many classrooms do not have enough robots for the students.
- Most students do not have a robot kit at home. Robotics educators are unable to assign authentic homework, and students who miss a class generally are not permitted by the school to take the robot home and struggle to make up the work.
These virtual robots have motors, shaft encoders, ultrasonic sensors, light sensors, touch sensors and compass sensors. The same programming language used to program them in the real world, ROBOTC, is used to program them in the virtual world.
Classrooms with too few robots can purchase a classroom license of ROBOTC with the Robot Virtual World software for less than the cost of one robot kit, allowing each student with a computer to have a meaningful experience.
